2021 World Biodiversity Day

2021 World Biodiversity Day

Every 22 May is World Biodiversity Day, the date marked on the calendar to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the biological resources and global biodiversity that make up our natural world. Nature is deteriorating more and more each year, and the need to take action to stop it is becoming more urgent.

According to the ONU, human activity has altered three quarters of the terrestrial environment and around 66% of the marine environment, and according to the latest report of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), more than one million species of animals and plants are threatened with extinction (including more than half of all known primate species).

This year, the international organisation wants to remind humanity that we too, and in a decisive way, “are part of the solution”, that the answer is not only outside and that without the commitment of each and every human being living on the planet, the restoration of the balance of ecosystems will be an absolute chimera.

So, this year more than ever, let us each say out loud “I am part of the solution”.

To be part of the solution you can become a member of Mona and help us to work for the protection and conservation of primates. BECOME A MEMBER
