Margot, Archie, Celia and their volunteering at MONA

Most opportunities through the European Solidarity Corps are cross-border volunteering activities.

These projects are an excellent opportunity to help where needed, learn new skills, spend time abroad, maybe learn a language – and definitely come back with unforgettable memories. And that is what Margot, Archie and Celia have done, volunteering for one year in MONA thanks to the European Solidarity Corps. This was their experience:

Margot

Volunteering in MONA was a great experience. Not only did I have the chance to work with Chimpanzees and Macaces, I also got to know a lot of amazing persons from different nationalities and cultures. Thanks for the amazing time and everybody who contributed to make this year, despite covid, a good year that I will cherrish and remember!

Archie

Thanks to this incredible opportunity I learn a great deal about animal care, enrichment, conservation and nutrition. Spending a whole year at MONA allowed me to build special bonds with the chimpanzees and macaques, which enabled me to better understand aspects of communication and behaviour which I had previously only read about. It was truly an incredible experience and one which has hopefully set me up for a career in animal care and conservation.

Celia

Living in Girona was a great experience as I got the discover the city with many other international volunteers and go on many beautiful walks with the MONA staff. Girona like many of the surrounding towns had many concerts and festivals to enjoy for free, so is a great place to have fun meeting other young people doing similar things. European Solidarity Corps gives you once in a life time opportunities that you would not normally get to do, so everyone should do it!
