Ask Halcon Viajes to stop using animals for its commercials
A capuchin monkey and a cow are forced to perform in their latest campaign, created by the agency DDB Spain.
After a long time without seeing wild animals in advertising, and when we thought that companies and advertisers understood the serious problems these animals face when exploited for the audiovisual industry… Halcón Viajes goes ahead and launches a campaign featuring a capuchin monkey!
The use of a primate in the “Mono de Vacas” campaign, created by the agency DDB Spain, sends a message that normalizes the exploitation of these animals in entertainment and reinforces the idea of pet ownership, which is linked to the illegal wildlife trade.
But it’s not just a perception problem.
Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated the negative impact suffered by wild animals used in the entertainment industry. In particular, primates used in commercials are often separated from their mothers at an early age, subjected to coercive training, and deprived of proper living conditions. As a result, they develop severe psychological and behavioral disorders that persist even after being rescued.
Additionally, in the same advertisement, as well as in the previous Halcón Viajes campaign, there is also a cow owned by the animal rental company for film and advertising, Fauna y Acción… another animal that has no place on a television set!
From Fundació MONA and FAADA, we have sent a letter demanding that Halcón Viajes withdraw the advertisement and commit to never using real animals in advertising again.
But we need your help.
